पंजाब के श्री मुक्तसर साहिब जिले के इन्ना खेड़ा गांव की रहने वाली रूपिंदर कौर ने कभी नहीं सोचा था कि फैशन डिजाइनिंग की पढ़ाई के बाद उनकी पहचान एक सफल महिला झींगा किसान के रूप में बनेगी। शादी के बाद उन्होंने देखा कि परिवार की जमीन खारेपन और जलभराव के कारण गेहूं और धान की खेती के लिए अनुपयोगी होती जा रही थी। तब उन्होंने अपने लेक्चरर पति मनजिंदर सिंह संधू के साथ जोखिम उठाकर झींगा पालन शुरू किया।
महिला किसान होने के कारण उन्हें 60% सरकारी सब्सिडी मिली। परिवार ने लोन लिया, प्रशिक्षण हासिल किया और 5.5 एकड़ से शुरू हुआ यह सफर आज कई एकड़ तक फैल चुका है। यह कहानी बताती है कि सही जानकारी, परिवार का साथ और नई सोच मिल जाए तो खारी जमीन भी सफलता की नई कहानी लिख सकती है।
