मध्यप्रदेश की बेड़िया जनजाति में सालों से चली आ रही एक कड़वी सच्चाई थी।
जहां बेटियों को बचपन से ही देह व्यापार की ओर धकेल दिया जाता था IPS अधिकारी वीरेंद्र मिश्रा ने इस परंपरा को सिर्फ चुनौती ही नहीं दी, बल्कि इसे जड़ से बदलने का संकल्प लिया। उन्होंने एक NGO की स्थापना की, बच्चों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित की, उन्हें गांव से बाहर स्कूलों में दाखिला दिलाया और उनके लिए हॉस्टल व स्कॉलरशिप की व्यवस्था की। आज 5000+ बच्चियां इस चक्र से बाहर निकलकर अपनी नई पहचान बना रही हैं।
